About the event

Facilitator: Kate Beatty

Length: 3 hours over 1 day

This Think-In is designed for MYP and DP Language A teachers who want to create more inclusive, flexible, and engaging learning experiences for all students. Participants will explore the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and consider how they can be applied to planning, teaching, assessment, and feedback within language classrooms.

Session 1: Understanding UDL in the Language Classroom. We will explore the three principles of Universal Design for Learning and their application within MYP and DP Language classrooms, examining strategies for providing multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression, while considering how UDL supports learner variability, inclusion and student agency. Practical classroom examples will illustrate how UDL can enhance both teaching and learning.

Session 2: Applying UDL to Planning and Assessment. We will work through practical approaches for embedding UDL into unit planning, classroom activities and assessment…
